35 Weeks

We have been very busy this week. On Monday morning, I went in for an ultrasound. Will is perfectly healthy and his estimated weight at the time was 5 lb. 11 oz., which makes him exactly average for his "age." According to the ultrasound, he is due August 4th, which correspondes perfectly with his due date of August 5th. We obviously didn't get any pictures this time--he's too big now! Jered was of course off from work for the Fourth, and we went to a party that a couple from church hosted. They have a lovely home and we had a great time getting to know some of our new friends from church better. Jered was also off on Thursday. We had our doctor's appointment at 1:45. The doctor said that everything looked great. He mostly just made sure that we were measuring correctly and that my blood sugar was doing well. He said that I have done such a good job controlling it, that it won't affect the baby at all--yah! After our appointment, we drove across the bridge to North Island and Jered took me out to the beach there on base. As you can see from the pictures, it is a beautiful beach with lots of fluffy sand and just enough waves so you can surf safely. Jered expressed an interest in maybe taking up surfing again if we find we have time to drive down there often. After going to the beach, we went back to the hospital for our final childbirth class. During the first part of class, we had two sets of new parents come in and share their birthing experiences. They were both military and had given birth at Balboa, like we will. Then we toured labor and delivery, post-partum, and the NICU. It was great to familiarize ourselves with the layout before the big day. Also, as one of the girls in our class pointed out, it was comforting to visit labor and delivery and not hear screaming or other sounds of intense pain! Tomorrow we are going to a first birthday party for the child of one of our Sunday school class members. We hope that everyone had a great Fourth of July holiday.

  1. Mandy,

I hope everything is going well. You look very nice in the latest picture, not too uncomfortable yet anyway. :) Continue to keep us updated. I am now almost 20 weeks along and my ultrasound date is in 17 days. We'll let you know what we find out. :) Take care!
