32 Weeks

We started childbirth classes last night at the Naval Medical Center. The classes are run through a partnership with the Navy, American Red Cross, and the community college. Ours is 6-9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There were lots of people there. After giving us a course overview, the teachers talked to us about changes our bodies will go through during the first stages of labor and taught us some exercises we can do at home to relieve pelvic pressure, etc. We also watched a video about newborns and their early responses and reactions to their parents. That was our favorite part of the class--soooo cute! They are going to have an anesthesiologist come in and talk to us about pain relief options, and hopefully have some recently delivered women come in with their babies. The last night of class is July 5th. On that night, we will take a tour of the labor and delivery ward of the hospital. We can't believe that there are less than two months until our due date. August 5th is approaching quickly!

Tonight we are going to try a Wednesday night bible study that is led by the pastor of Bonita Valley Baptist, the church we have been attending the last couple of weeks. A very nice couple invited us and we miss having more fellowship with other Christians, so we are looking forward to it. We have also been going to the "Parents' New Groove" Sunday school class for new parents at Bonita Valley. The other couples in the class are also first time parents with babies under 1 year old.
