28 Weeks

This week we had several visitors from Maryland! We spent most of Wednesday touring the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum with the Calderwood family. It was lots of fun to see our friends again, and I enjoyed my first visit to an aircraft carrier. Jered was our tour guide and explained the different parts of the ship, not to mention the aircraft that are housed there. It gave me new appreciation for how hard it is to be confined to such a small space when the sailors are deployed. Funny enough, the cramped quarters didn't seemed to bother my 6'4" husband as much as it did me!

Above, Jered is sitting in an ejection seat used in some F-14s. Christa is sitting on the bridge. We had to climb about 5 flights of "stairs" (more like ladders!) to get up here. I feel very sorry for any sailor who have a fear of heights--I almost didn't make it up here!

After eating a late lunch with the Calderwoods at Hard Rock Cafe in the Gaslamp District, we met up with Shannon, a friend and former co-worker of mine from DOT in Washington, DC. We showed her around where we live and then ate at Johnny Carinos in our neighborhood. It was wonderful to see old friends this week!
