3 Months + 1 week old (14 weeks)

There are a couple of new things that Will is doing now: he looked at me and said "Hi" Monday morning, and he will look at you if you say his name and turn around to find you when you call him. He also makes more consonant sounds like "la," and giggles! His laughter is wonderful--he giggles when we tickle him or sing silly songs. Will experienced a few new things this week. On Thursday we went to story-time and infant sign language at the Bonita Public Library. The leader sang songs that went with the stories and the new signs the babies were learning. Will loves singing, especially songs with hand motions, so he had a great time. We enjoyed meeting more babies and moms from our mom's group. However, you can see from these pictures that Will's BFF is still our peke, Max. (make sure you check out the tongue action on the picture below...) Wednesday evening, my friend and former co-worker Shannon came to see us. She was here on a work trip, and I loved catching up on the latest from friends in DC. We are so glad that she took the time to drive down and see us. Saturday Jered, Will, and I drove 50 miles NE to Julian, CA in the mountains outside San Diego near Cleveland National Forest. We went to a charming rare and used book store and walked down Main St to eat at a shop that serves sandwiches, homemade soup and fresh pastries. We had hot apple cider and homemade apple crumb pie with cinnamon ice cream for dessert. The apples come from the apple orchards in the area. During the autumn, Julian offers apple picking as a fun activity for families and draws tourists from all over Southern California because of their famous fresh apple pies, mountain views and cooler temperatures. The high there on Saturday was 50 and by 4:30pm it was 41! We didn't realize the drastic climate difference until we drove back into the city, where it was a good 20 degrees warmer! Julian gets decent snowfall in the winter, so we will be able to introduce William to snow sooner than we thought. Each time we discover a new jewel of the San Diego area, we have a greater appreciation for living in such a beautiful, diverse area.

  1. Will is by far the most adorable baby I have ever seen! He gets cuter and cuter every week!
